Help Our Snark Moderators and Contributors in Legal Battle

Snarking is a first-amendment right. One of the best uses of Reddit is as a sort of virtual, world-wide living room, where one can kick off one’s shoes, grab a drink, and talk some crap with like-minded people about whatever annoying, morally-bankrupt, shady goings-on one observes on social media/reality TV. Behold, the proud tradition of Reddit snark pages!

We over at r/JJRaeSnark have been sitting around our virtual living room for over a year now—though that living room was first called r/PWebbsSnark—calling out the behavior of one Pam Webster, a well-known and much-discussed Lularoe seller-turned-boutique owner. Led by our fearless mods, usnamom14 and LittleTrapperKeeper, our group has lived, laughed, loved, and spilled much tea while growing to 1600 members. This, unfortunately, did not go unnoticed by the subject of our snark page: Pam first doxed one of our mods, then sent harassing mail to one of our members, then got the original PWebbsSnark sub wiped, and then, when JJRaeSnark was formed and regained its membership at an astonishing rate, she filed a defamation lawsuit against our mods and two other Snarkers whose identities were known to her, Swedeascanbe and Pammycakes.

The ”Fabulous 4” as we call them have retained extremely competent legal counsel and plan to respond aggressively to the Webster lawsuit. We truly believe that not only is the law on the side of snark, but also that this case has the potential to be extremely important for all snark pages. If Pam Webster were to win this lawsuit, it could set a dangerous precedent for the subjects of other snark pages to sue members of Reddit for the simple act of sitting in their virtual living rooms and gossiping. That’s why it’s so important for our Fab 4 to fight this lawsuit no matter how expensive it gets, and to help defray our ladies’ legal costs, one of our Snarkers set up this GoFundMe. We have reached almost half of our $5,000 goal. Every little bit helps, every donation can be anonymous so that nobody is unmasked, and every dollar donated is guaranteed to make a very unpleasant woman very, very angry.
