On June 21, 2022, our Son Torrence Wright was in a motorcycle accident , which he was thrown in the air and thrown into a steel telegram pole. When we arrived at Huntsville Medical Truma ICU that evening, we learned that he had broken his hip, his shoulder, and damaged his spine. Torrence was taken into surgery, after surgery was placed back on ICU Truma, and later to a Truma Ward. The doctors told us that our son had suffered what is medically known as a " complete spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed from the waist down. According to the doctors report it is unknown if or when he will regain his ability to walk again.
Flash forward, five months later, in addition to the overwhelming emotional and physical burdens, insurance coverage is reaching it's limit. Between Specialists, Rehabilitation Hospitals, Deductibles, Health Care Supplies, Equipment, he is facing mounting medical bills. Because of his paraplegic state, our son has lost his job post, and all of his savings. It looks like it will be a long and challenging process
Rehabilitation and Therapy is a must, in order for Torrence to have any chance at regaining as much function as possible. Torrence qualifies for the care of one of the best Physiatrist in the state, which includes both physical and occupational therapy teams, and best rehab facilities in the country.
Torrence lives on the second floor of his apartment complex which includes 14 stairs, which has become more and more dangerous to transport him. We are in the process of moving him to a bottom floor, that will be more accessible for a wheelchair. This move will also require more financial burden.
Torrence wants to move forward, but lack the funds needed to rebuild his life. Torrence rehabilitation also require special modified equipment, that is not covered under his insurance. This equipment is needed as soon as possible to give him a higher rate of success.
Torrence has always been active and worked to provide for himself. He is fighting hard to regain his independence, and believing he will RISE UP and Walk again, against all odds.
We are asking that you would help him with housing, medical bills, deductibles, health care supplies, rehabilitation equipment, and other significant expenses; so he can focus on healing and creating a future where he can focus on healing and creating a future where he can live as independently and fully as possible with dignity.
We will be grateful if you find it in your heart to help our son at this time. We thank God for saving his life, and for the nurses that were at the scene with him and attended him until 911 got there.
Forever Trusting God
Ernest and Deborah Wright
