Help our Sweet Rikke Beat Stage 4 Cancer

Those of you who’ve know Rikke as long as we have, know her indelible spirit and impeccable taste. But sometimes life throws you a curveball that even the best of us struggle to overcome — even incredibly talented Danish trendsetters. After surviving breast cancer 8 years ago, a survivor who’s already overcome a hysterectomy and double mastectomy, the worst has happened. Our beloved, and persevering, friend Rikke has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Breast cancer that has metastasized to lung and bones. Obviously this is gut-wrenching and the most unfortunate news, but particularly as the primary caregiver to her teenage son Loomis.

Rikke grew up in Denmark, studied in London, worked all over the world, ultimately landing here in Los Angeles as an illustrator, costume designer, production designer, and co-founder and primary artist of Brown Crayons. Brown Crayons is a multi-racial, woman-owned company whose focus is representing, reflecting and empowering all girls of color through illustrations on t-shirts, notecards and wall prints.

She faces the most difficult road ahead. From debilitating treatments that prevent her from working, an uncertain future in terms of everyday activity and viability, and the challenge of providing for a teenager in high school — much less taking care of herself. She has no immediate family left and so it comes to us to be the “family”she needs to help her get through this time.

Please help us support her as she battles cancer, cares for Loomis, and seeks to make the most of the rest of her precious life. Every bit counts, and we thank you graciously for any support.
