Help out our Ballard neighbor
Donation protected
I’m a first responder in Ballard and I’m teaming up with a few of the neighborhood businesses to raise money for one of our neighbors who has had a really hard week. On Sunday, December 12th, there was a hit and run incident involving this individual and his dog, Zelda. Sunday evening he had decided to take a walk in the neighborhood with Zelda, a 6 year old rescue dog, around 6pm. When crossing the intersection at 24th Avenue NW and NW Market Street, a vehicle struck both the man and Zelda and fled the scene. Good Samaritans immediately went to provide assistance while the fire and police departments were contacted. The man sustained several non-life threatening injuries and lost consciousness due to a head injury. He gained consciousness a few moments after the collision only to attend to Zelda as she took her last breaths and passed on the scene. He was transported to the hospital for further treatment and has since been released. To add to his misfortune, that day was also his 40th birthday.
We’ve been in contact with his sister and we want to raise some money to pay for Zelda’s cremation and some small bills as hell need time to recover and deal with medical expenses. I really think it would be a nice gesture to show this man that there are others out there who genuinely care about our neighborhood, and the people in it. Thank you for taking the time to read, and thank you for helping out one of our neighbors by donating or spreading the word.
