Stowe Farm is a beautiful farm located in West Millbury that is home to nearly 50 horses amongst many other animals.
Stowe Farm has been a second home to me since I started taking lessons from Maura as a 9 year old child. I was hooked on horses immediately and spent every second I could on the farm. Luckily for me, Maura and her family did everything they could to let all of us spend as much time as we wanted with the animals. She let us take the school bus straight to the farm before lessons and spend all day on the farm for Horse Club, teaching us everything we wanted to learn about the horses and many other animals over the years. As we got older Maura gave us the freedom to adventure around the farm and through the forest on the horses. I, like many others, got my first job at Stowe Farm as many of you have seen us in the pony ring or around the petting zoo. These opportunities gave me the chance to see the hard work it takes to keep a farm going and learn how much goes into caring for the animals.
Unfortunately, during this time the horses have no idea that our world has come to a stop. They’re eating, needing their feet done, needing shots and dewormers, and not being overly careful about getting injured as if there was no pandemic. This puts the Stowe Family, like many others at this time, in a tough position to try and hold onto their beloved horses. With this campaign we are trying to help Maura feed her horses so she does not have to sell any of them.
I know there are so many kids out there who can’t wait to get back on their favorite lesson pony and I want them to be able to have these experiences when we can all be together again.
These animals have touched my life and so many others. So to those of you who have been on the farm for the range of activities they offer, or have taken pony rides, trail rides, lessons, or simply stopped in your cars to admire these beautiful animals, please take a moment to donate and share this campaign. It would mean so much to me if we can show the Stowe Family how much they and their animals mean to us during these tough times.
