Help Pamela & her animals rebuild after the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
I'm launching this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Pamela Zoolalian, who has been displaced due to the Eaton Fire.
I've known Pamela for a long time, meeting through the Sierra Club's Wilderness Travel Course; she was one of the friends who accompanied me on the trail while working on my Pacific Crest Trail book. As long as I've known her, Pamela has been a kind heart and a helper. In fact, the night the fire began, when we were dealing with 80+ mph winds, she chose to prioritize helping others in her Altadena community evacuate their horses. She was able to also evacuate her sweet pup, Lucy, and her llamas. She had just enough time to drive back and grab a few sentimental items, as the flames had already arrived at her direct neighbors' homes.
Pamela's rented home is currently uninhabitable and she is trying to figure out a long-term housing solution for herself and her beloved animals. When I spoke with her, she was reticent to accept monetary help (despite needing it) - her concern is with others who've lost more in her community. Even as she grapples with the difficulties of not being able to return to the place she called home, she is still trying to help her neighbors get assistance to begin rebuilding their lives. I'd like to help her rebuild her own, as well. She insisted on a low monetary amount (but I bumped it up a bit as I know there will be plenty of unanticipated expenses along the way).
I know resources are spread thin, but if you have a little to give, please consider doing so for a person who has always been a generous soul. This money will help her with interim housing and some necessities as she figures out her post-fire life.
