Help Pamela Rose, Help The Children

I'm Pamela Rose and I love the kids that no one else loves. I was told that the kids I work with today are the hardest kids in the city. When I started, this was true. They burned cars, fought all the time, and harassed me. I felt the leading of God to begin working with these kids in a public park. I consistently taught them the gospel of Jesus Christ; I invested in relationships, and I prayed for them. Five years later, everything is different. We don't have fist fights anymore. Kids want to be like Jesus. Caregivers ask why their kids behave for me and not for them. It's the wrong question, really. The problem isn't behavior. The problem isn't due to being Black, poor, or living in a low-income neighborhood. The problem is an absence of Jesus and His love. He is the only solution for all of us, children included.

PROBLEM

I did not even see the problem coming. I was healthy and strong, teaching kids to read the Bible in my Summer Program when I came down with pneumonia. Months later, I couldn't shake the sickness and then I discovered why. Mold was in my lab tests, and it was in my apartment. I had mold-induced pneumonia. My landlord decided to remediate the mold herself. In her ignorance, she took her home-duty vacuum cleaner and blew the spores of a very toxic mold throughout the apartment. I came home unaware of her remediation efforts and went to sleep. I went to bed one way, and I woke up another. My lungs, brain, and skin were on fire. I literally wanted to die. I could not function. I could not breathe. This event set the course of a year of illness, homelessness, and financial breakdown.

The cascade of health issues triggered by mold toxicity has dramatically altered my life. While I have never missed a program day with my kids, some days are very difficult. Chronic inflammation and chemical sensitivities plague me. I can't focus or concentrate. My memory and mood have been affected. My energy level has tanked. I now have asthma, headaches, and more.

SOLUTION

Not everyone takes mold seriously, but the Bible says, if you can't get rid of the mold in a house, destroy the house (Leviticus 14:45). Mold is a hideous and serious issue. It is the root cause of many major illnesses. It attacks every organ of the body at a cellular level and sabotages detox. The spores and secondary toxins produced by mold attach to rugs, bedding, and clothing, and you must dispose of them if you want to get well. Even worse, most medical doctors are woefully ignorant of how to treat a mold-exposed patient. Functional medicine has answers, but they are expensive. They can address the detox issues and bring the body back into order. I have begun the process with an experienced functional practitioner, but need to raise $60,000 for a 2-3 year treatment plan.

I believe the reason I love the hard-to-handle children is because the Lord God put it in me. I have devoted my life to reaching the unchurched, at-risk children in our own backyard.
