Humbling seeking support for Amanda’s medical

Donation protected
Amanda has been healthy. Vaccinated & boosted but COVID still found her and around 2 weeks later was diagnosed with Guillain–Barré (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome also known as GBS rare neurological disorder in which your immune system mistakenly attacks part of the peripheral nervous system—the network of nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord.
Amanda’s condition left her almost totally paralyzed. Symptoms intensified and became life-threatening interfering with breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, swallowing, speaking, chewing, eye muscles and vision.
they started Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy (IVIg) involved intravenous injections of immunoglobulins—proteins that our immune system naturally makes to attack infecting organisms. 5 IVIg treatments at $10,000 per treatment for 5 days in a row $50,000. Luckily insurance picked up some.
Emergency room & ICU, then transferred to an in-patient rehabilitation hospital.
She had to relearn how to do all of the basics. All the things we take for granted. Rolling over on side, stepping up onto a small box, relearn how to walk. Etc…, She was eventually sent home with walker to continue therapy locally.
Paying COBRA insurance while out of work. Trying to figure out all the medical expenses. It was All very confusing and expensive. All along worrying about her mom’s health (on liver transplant list at University of Washington), how her family was holding up, her dog that was recovering from ACL surgery, and if her job would still be there. It was all too much.
After 9 months of recovering, she excitedly returned to work. But not for long as her mom’s health failed and she has to care for her.
Amanda is absolutely mentally exhausted and still not 100.% recovered. Frustrated and Tired of fighting insurance, she’s racked up the health bills on her credit card.
Amanda is humbly seeking assistance to help get back on track. The medical bills still roll in and the debt is crushing even with every paycheck going to pay off. Drowning.
thank you for considering.
Amanda never asks for help so this is humbling and difficult.
Anything over the medical bills will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western Washington.
