Help Paola Herrera Get Stem Cell Treatment
Paola Herrera was involved in a serious car accident on February 4th, 2021 while driving to work on I-95 in Miami. The 6-car chain reaction accident was caused by someone who left the scene and not any fault of Paola's. She was the most serious injury and rushed to Jackson North ER in an ambulance. Paola sustained a serious foot and ankle injury in addition to concussion, bruising and lacerations. The last 4 months have been very hard on Paola and her family as she has not regained the ability to walk. Paola was an extremely healthy 32 year old woman before the accident and was training for her first half marathon in February with her boyfriend Bryan. Since the accident, she has been confined to crutches and a knee scooter for any mobility. She no longer has a car and cannot drive until she can walk again and afford to buy one again. She has not been able to work more than 6 hours per week at her employer where she was previously full time. She is in the process of being hired full time for an at-home/remote customer service position. She has gone to weekly physical therapy, doctor's appointments, had 2 MRIs as well as other imaging and many consultations. She had a major compression injury which damaged her talus bone in her ankle as well as causing major swelling, bruising, lack of circulation and damage to the ankle and foot. She hasn't been able to walk at all for the last 4 months. But there is no major permanent damage. After consulting with many experts and getting a PRP (plasma rich platelet) injection in April, it was determined that the best way to get her to be able to walk again is through consistent manual therapies including fascial work, ART stretching, ozone, PRP, shockwave and others. This therapy along with the transportation to and from will cost Paola approximately $5,000 for the next 2-3 months. Anything on top of that will support Paola in strengthening her ankle long term and returning to running eventually. Paola also has not not received any disability or unemployment benefits despite fighting hard to receive it and is not even able to afford her rent at this point. She also has no health insurance since she lost her full time employment. Paola, her family and her boyfriend Bryan are humbly asking for donations of any amount to support Paola in getting the high quality treatment she needs and deserves. Paola is such a beautiful and humble woman, she doesn't want to ask for a hand out but we all need her back to the healthy person she was before the accident. Thank you for anything you can do to help Paola reach her goal and walk again!
