Help Papaya Recover

Donation protected
Hi friends!

I’m Karissa and as most of you know, I spent the past 5 months in Baja. On my drive back north I stopped for the night in Guerrero Negro. When I pulled up I immediately found Papaya on the streets, casted and dragging her back legs, basically using just her front legs to move.

She was immediately so sweet and just wanted some water, food, pets, and safety. I let her sleep in my Airbnb that night and she was an absolute Angel. Being that I already have Daisy and am not in a position to have 2 dogs, I had a hard decision to make. I had to leave at 4am the next morning and when I woke up I just wasn’t prepared to make the decision to rescue a dog / bring her to the states for medical care.

I started driving away and every hour I drove the more I knew I made the wrong decision. I had multiple people tell me, just bring her to the US. But I kept driving. It was heartbreaking. When I arrived to Guadalupe Valley I knew I needed to do something and I texted some friends who were driving north soon too.

They were sooo kind to grab her (literally found her in the same spot) and bring her to me!

I took her to the vet and had X-Rays done and looks like the casted leg is broken and was basically rotting off. And the other leg is broken at the growth plate and needs surgery to be repaired. All in all the vet bills will be around 5k minimum. The rescues I’ve talked to won’t take on a medical case like this. I want to find her the best for her home but until then I need to get her healthy. That’s why I’m asking for help for her!

She is an absolute doll, full of life and deserves to be able to walk. If you are called to help, I will be forever grateful. Anything helps!

Thank you I’m advance for considering!
