Help Parker Card 's family with Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My name is Steve Wigley, and Parker Card was my best friend for most of my life. On January 29, 2022, he lost
his battle with cancer. With his passing, the Memphis community lost a musical legend and, more importantly, a loving and kind husband, father, and friend. His death leaves a hole in my life that will never be filled.
About this GoFundMe
The costs of cancer treatment can be overwhelming, even for families with good insurance and substantial savings.
- In 2019, patient out-of-pocket costs for cancer treatment totaled $21 billion.
- Patient costs for just one drug can be as much as $12,000 per year.
- New drugs can cost patients as much as $30,000 per month.
After Parker’s death, I realized I could do one more act of friendship for Parker: Help make sure that Jo Ann, his wife of 30 years, and his children – Quincy, Zander, and Jesslyn – can grieve and heal in peace without worrying about the costs of his treatment.
About Parker Card
If you asked someone to “Tell me about Parker,” the answer would depend on who you asked. His wife and children would tell you about how loving and caring he was as a father and husband, and how their lives will never be the same without him.
If you asked the people he worked with, they’d tell you about his expertise in cybersecurity.
If you asked his fellow parishioners at St. Francis, they’d tell you about how he played in the band for Sunday evening Mass. And the teachers at the school would tell you about the deep affection they still hold for his children.
If you asked me, I’d tell you about how a chance meeting on a beach in Fort Walton led to a lifelong friendship. I'd tell you about Parker the musician. I’d tell you about how he could write songs that made you feel like he wrote them just for you. I’d tell you about how he could play any instrument. I’d tell you about the extremely talented musicians he worked with, like Shawn Lane, Reba Russell, and Keith Sykes. And most of all, I’d tell you about the nights he and our friends spent in my music room, playing music, telling stories, and making memories.
Please share Parker’s story
If you can, please make a donation. And even if you can’t, please share Parker’s story. As I wrote above, Parker Card touched many lives. I knew him for his music, but there are many people who knew him through work, church, etc. Please share this GoFundMe on social media so it can reach as many people as possible. And, when you share it, please add a few words about how Parker touched your life. Because the last thing we can do for him is the one thing he’d ask of us: Take care of his family.
