Help Pastor Berlin regain his vision via eSight

We have discovered a technology that will restore some life back to the living, and we are requesting your help!

In the late 90's Pastor Dale Berlin (my dad) was diagnosed with diabetes, requiring daily insulin shots. The progression of the diabetes led to critical kidney failure in 2011 and a life saving kidney transplant in 2013 from the donation of a loved member of his congregation. Unfortunately, due to the use of the anti-rejection medication Dale has wrestled with multiple bouts of Septicemia in addition to other aggressive infections. Dale has battled over the years leading to an excess of over 50 surgeries, but several of these infections have attacked his feet and legs drilling deep into the bone tissue itself. These infections eventually led to the amputation of his left leg and part of his right foot, but also his medical staff attempted to use a medication to help with infections which inadvertently robbed him of his eyesight rendering him legally blind. His eyesight has digressed to 20/1400 with retinal degeneration making nearly everything in his world essentially disappear. He has been robbed of easy leisure reading, seeing pictures on his television, seeing his congregational members, ability to work on pastoral messages, his privilege of driving, but most importantly he has missed seeing the unique facial expressions of his children and his growing grandchildren.

Recently Dale was blessed with the opportunity to access a trial use of a new technology called eSight, electronic eyeglasses designed to help the legally blind see again. During the trial Dale was able to improve his vision back to 20/30 while wearing the device. This has allowed him to literally see again. The vision increase is an opportunity to regain some normalcy back to life again, especially amid battling his struggle with learning the mobility of a new prosthetic leg. The vision correction has literally breathed some life back into him, especially given the joy of seeing his newest 2-month-old grandchild.

Unfortunately, the cost of the glasses is cost prohibitive compared to their budget. We are asking for your contribution in helping Dale finance the eSight eyeglasses so that the transaction doesn’t become an exorbitant credit card balance as we can’t allow him not to have these eyeglasses. If you feel led, we invite you to contribute any amount you feel comfortable as we believe this technology will bring life back into his world!
