Help Pat and Doreen after Tragic Barn Fire
Donation protected
On February 22, 2025 our family was awakened by a heartbreaking tragedy on our farm. The barn was discovered engulfed in flames by a neighbor but it was far too late by the time help had arrived. We lost so much that we (especially our parents) have worked so hard for over the past several years—our collection of horse tack, which we gathered with love and dedication, as well as countless tools, solar power batteries, milking equipment, etc.. Most sadly of all, we lost two of our beloved horses, Molly the mini mule, a ewe, three lambs and a cat. There was also one horse in the barn that managed to escape. She is stable but under critical care at MSU. We are hopeful that she will make a full recovery, but she has a long road ahead. Although, the loss has been unimaginable we are still blessed with so many healthy animals including, horses, cattle, sheep and guardian dogs. The barn wasn't just a structure; it was a place where our mom nurtured her animals and built memories over decades. She used this space for building/woodworking, to milk her cow, shelter her horses and livestock, and so much more!
We are reaching out to our friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers to ask for help in rebuilding what was lost. Your generous donations will help us rebuild the barn, replace the horse tack and equipment, and provide support for the animals she still cares for. Every dollar counts and will go directly to rebuilding life on the farm. As many of you know, our parents are both very loving, kind and generous people. They are always there to lend a helping hand or dollar to anyone in need.. even strangers so we are hopeful they will get the support and love they deserve and need.
Thank you so much for your support during this difficult time. No donation is too small, and your kindness will mean the world to all of us as we navigate this heartbreaking tragedy. We would also like to mention we are very grateful that we still have hay for the animals as it is stored in a different barn however they would be appreciative of any donated used items like shovels, pitchforks, tools, any horse tack/supplies, buckets, animal dishes, etc. We greatly appreciate all thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness.
With love and gratitude,
Pat Boughan and Doreen Wilcox's loving children and grandchildren.
