Help Pat build an electric motorcycle from scratch

Hi there! My name is Patrick and I have had the dream to build an electric motorcycle, from scratch, for several years. Not only because electric is the way forward, but I also want to prove that it is possible to build one without special training.

I have gotten to the point of finding a motor and controllers, researching batteries, finding out about the possibilities of registering for road use and even designing the bike around this. Unfortunately the cost of it is making the project prohibitively expensive for me.

The materials, parts and required engineering will push this project to an estimated $20,000-$25,000, not including any special tools I'd need, such as a welder.

I will also need to take some time off work to get this all done within a reasonable time frame and as a self-employed contractor, that would mean a decent cut in income.

This is where you come in; I am looking for sponsors to get this project off the ground properly. The ultimate dream is to use this bike as a prototype to go commercial. If this seems like a viable option, my aim is for the sponsors to be the first to find out.

When this campaign reaches the $5,000 mark I will kick it off by ordering the motor, controllers and battery. In case the goal is never reached, this will allow me to convert an existing motorbike to electric instead, while I can even do that to test the motor/battery combo.

At $10,000 I will kick off the custom build, starting with finalising the designs with the input from an engineer.
