Help Patricia & Robert Doolan
Donation protected
Please help Patricia and her husband Robert in these challenging times when they are both sick, in the hospital, and unable to work. In addition, their bills are piling up and they risk losing their house. They have always been kind and giving with others, sharing even in the moments when they had little to offer. Let's unite together and be a ray of light and hope in their lives by giving back and helping them out.
Here are the details Patricia shares on their health, the medical treatments they need, and how these funds will help out her family:
My husband & I have been sick for the last two years. We've been in & out of the hospital. He had a stroke, two heart attacks, infections in the lungs & low platelets. I was the only one that worked a little bit but my health got worse, now we both are in the hospital for infections in the lungs & I am in a need of lung transplant, now living with oxygen, unable to go work. Our house has mildew or mold, we found out in the last two months. That has made our health worse. This happened due to the poor A/C & poor insulation, which are not covered by house insurance, so we are in a need of new and Better A/C & insulation to take care of the problem. When we get out of the hospital we have to stay with a relative until the problem with the house has been taken care of. Our health also got worse because we didn't have proper treatments & medications & were unable to pay for health insurance, co-pays & have to pay for some medications. We've been helped for the last two years by the organization Brandon Outreach Clinic, a free health clinic, but they do not have the resources to provide all treatments or medications and because of all of this the Lupus on me have flare up causing the Fibrosis to take over both lungs. Even though I was in chemotherapy pills since 2015 they weren't enough to stop it, they only helped my kidneys from getting worse (I am in kidney failure stage 4).
In my husband's case Granulomatous and Lymphocytic Interstitial Lung Disease (GLILD) also attack back causing inflammations, infections and nodules to grow back due to the lack of Rituximab treatment & Hizentra infusions which are $10,000 each. He needs Rituximab for half of the year, but the Hizentra every month which he takes at the cancer center. They also charge for the doctor, the nurse who has to watch him for 3 hrs while the infusion is going on and they charge for the use of the equipment (pump, needles, syringes, etc.). He applied for disability but is still waiting, and my application is going through. We just got approved for county insurance & again it does not cover Rituximab or Hizentra and also do not cover the lung transplant that i need. The programs available to sponsor a lung transplant only cover the transplant and costs while you are in the hospital but once you are discharged you need to pay for your own medicines & if they know you don't have money or a way to get the medication they won't not approve you for it.
We don't have any more resources. For the last two years friends, family & church has been helping us, but it's getting to be too much for almost the same people to keep helping and now with me not able to produce any income is going to get worse. We don't want to lose our house, we need a place to rest and recover from being sick. We have a daughter, Rachael, she still lives with us. She is being helped by the Vocational Rehab to help her get a degree, get trained in a job & learn how to live on her own. She does not drive.
For the lung transplant, I have to go to either a city 4hrs away (Miami) or the other one is 6hrs away (Gainesville), for the appointments & we need money for gas, meals, hotel. Even when the appointments are in town we have expenses at the hospital and cancer center, like gas, tolls, parking fees and meals because we have to stay for more than half the day. Our families are not people who have money, they do labor work & we don't have much family only 5 that can help here & there. I pray that the Lord touches your heart & you would have compassion on us, show us your kindness, every donation small or big helps & is greatly appreciated.
GOD BLESS!
