Help Me Set a Fastest Known Time on the Annapurna Circuit and Support the Himalayan Rescue Association
Hi, I’m Patrick McClellan—an ultramarathoner, acroyogi, and adventurer with a passion for pushing limits and helping others. This fall, I’m embarking on one of the toughest challenges of my life: I’m attempting to set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal by running the entire route in under three days. The full Circuit is traditionally a 14-21 day trek and covers 134 miles, 33,000 feet of elevation gain, and tops out at 17,840 feet.
But this challenge isn’t just about testing my endurance. It’s about raising awareness and funds for an incredible cause—the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA). The HRA is a non-profit that’s been saving lives in the Himalayas for decades. They provide critical altitude training for trekkers, free medical care for locals, and subsidized care for travelers. These services allow more people to safely explore these beautiful mountains, something that means the world to me as an adventurer.
Why Support the Himalayan Rescue Association?
The HRA plays a crucial role in keeping people safe in the high-altitude regions of Nepal. Every year, countless trekkers and locals face life-threatening situations due to altitude sickness and lack of proper medical care. The HRA offers lifesaving treatments and education to prevent and manage these risks.
With just $5,000, they were able to build a facility that hosts altitude talks to educate trekkers and prevent altitude-related deaths. Your donation can help them continue this vital work—whether it’s providing more free medical care, building new facilities, or training locals and travelers alike.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate: Any amount helps! Your donation goes directly to the HRA’s life-saving programs in the Himalayas.
2. Share: Spread the word! The more people who know about this fundraiser, the more support we can gather for the HRA.
3. Encourage: I’ll be facing some serious challenges on this run. Your words of encouragement will mean the world to me when things get tough out there!
This is about more than setting a personal record—it’s about giving back to the mountains and communities that have given me so much. Together, we can help the HRA save lives and make these incredible places safer for everyone.
If you’re interested in following the journey, when cell service is available, I’ll be posting live updates to my instagram story @acropatrick.
Thank you so much for your support. Let’s make a difference together!
