Help Patrick Thrive: Support His Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
Hello!

We are raising funds to help support my amazing little 8-year-old nephew, Patrick. He has two kidney surgeries coming up in March. His mom Allison is donating one of her kidneys to him and we want to support their family as much as we can with medical costs.

Any help you can give is so appreciated, and your support means the world to our whole extended family!

Full Story:

Patrick was born with a genetic mutation that causes cystic kidney disease, but it wasn't diagnosed until he was older. Over time, his kidneys developed small microcysts. The only noticeable symptom was high blood pressure, which was well-controlled with medication. His kidney function remained stable, with only minor declines over the years. However, recently the decline has accelerated, meaning a transplant is now needed sooner than expected.

At the end of March, Patrick will undergo a kidney transplant. My sister-in-law, Allison, is thankfully a match and will be donating her kidney to him. Before the transplant, the first surgery in early March will be a nephrectomy to remove one of Patrick's kidneys, making room for the donor kidney. He may need a brief period of dialysis prior to the transplant.

Following the transplant, for the first 90 days, Patrick will require multiple visits a week to Lurie Children's Hospital for routine lab work and check-ups.

Though a transplant isn’t a cure, it offers Patrick the best chance for a healthy future, enabling him to grow, thrive, and live a more vibrant life.

The funds raised will help cover transportation, lodging, insurance premiums, and other care-related expenses.

Anyone who knows Patrick knows he is a spunky, smart-as-a-whip kid who is such a joy to be around. We can't tell you how much all of your love and support means.
