Help Pat's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Dear friends, colleagues, and kind-hearted strangers,
I want to share the tragic news of my friend and co-worker, Patrick Grysen. In the early morning of April 3rd, 2023, Pat, was found on the floor of his apartment in Jerusalem having a seizure. He was immediately taken to the hospital by ambulance, only to receive news that he had a brain tumor. As you can imagine, this was a terrifying situation for Pat and his family who were on the other side of the world.
On the 6th of June, Pat had surgery to have part of his brain removed and is currently in recovery. It will take a few weeks from now for pathology to determine the next steps. Needless to say, this is quite a time of uncertainty with many overwhelming challenges coming for Pat and his loving family.
Pat is an extraordinary individual who has always been there for others in times of need. He is a great friend, a loving father, and a hard-working leader. Pat is a veteran who has chosen to continue to serve his country on the Worldwide Protection Service for the U.S. Department of State. He has sacrificed so much, it's our turn to support him and his family during this challenging road ahead.
He is facing a formidable adversary that will require treatment and therapy. As you know, these treatments and medications come with substantial financial hardships. Unfortunately, Pat does not qualify for any type of DBA insurance, and he is not paid while he is home recovering. Less than a month before finding out about the brain tumor, Pat was home and out of work with diverticulitis. I chatted with Pat this morning, and he is already intending to get back to work, he has a determined spirit, but he cannot fight this battle alone.
This is where I plead for your generosity and your compassion. By contributing to Pat, you will assist in alleviating some of the financial burdens that he and his family will be facing. Your kindness will allow him to focus on healing and his well-being.
No matter the size, each contribution will bring some hope to him and his family. In addition to your donations, your encouragement, prayers, and distribution of this fundraiser will provide him strength.
I hope we can come together as a community and “pass the hat” for Pat as he fights and wins this battle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your enthusiasm and compassion to make a difference for Pat!
