Let's Help Patti Get Back on Her Feet Again

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

We are reaching out today to let you know that our sister, Patti, is struggling and needs our support. Our beautiful sister, Patricia Sommer, has always been a vibrant, healthy, independent, and active person. However, last Monday she fell while riding her bicycle and her whole life changed in an instant. She is now in the hospital with a badly fractured shoulder that required surgery. She also has three pelvic stress fractures. These injuries are going to take some time to heal. She has already been in the hospital for over a week and she will be staying in a rehabilitation center for at least 2-3 weeks. She is unable to stand or even sit up in bed by herself due to the pelvic fractures. And she can't even use a standard wheelchair due to the shoulder fracture, so she is going to need quite a bit of care and physical therapy.

To make matters worse, she is extremely depressed and worried because she is self-employed and does not have any sort of disability. Her insurance is a high-deductible insurance so there will be medical bills to deal with as well as a complete loss of income for at least a couple of months due to her inability to drive, stand, or even type on her computer with her fractured shoulder, making it difficult to pay her rent and her regular bills.

As you all know, Patricia loves people and has many friends. Quite a few have reached out to us asking how they can help especially when most of us are so far away from her. I'm hoping this will provide a way for her friends, family, and those whom lives she has touched, to show their support for her during this extremely challenging time. Let's show her that she's not going through this alone, and hopefully, relieve some of her stress and worries, so that she can focus on physically healing her body and get back on her feet as quickly as possible.
