Help Paula & Adriano Stay Together in the UK

Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to friends, family, and compassionate individuals who might be able to lend a helping hand during a challenging time. Our dear friends, Paula & Adriano, are in need of financial support to cover the legal and application fees associated with securing a UK spouse visa. Please help them defend their human right to a family life together.
Situation:
The new government rules announced just before Christmas means that in a few months’ time if you want your non-UK Spouse to live with you here, you need to earn at least £38700 per year to sponsor them. This is well above the average UK salary, this new threshold means that 60% of men and 75% of women in the UK earn less than the new income requirement and would not be eligible to be joined by their partners. This comes hot on the heels of the latest visa application fee increase and health surcharge increase.
Paula and Adriano are trying to build a life filled with love and commitment, and they are now facing the daunting process of navigating the legal intricacies involved in securing a spouse visa. Unfortunately, the associated legal and application fees are substantial, and they are finding it difficult to manage the financial burden alone.
A message from Paula and Adriano about their love story:
"We met in spring 2022 in a beach bar in Porto and had a connection straight away with our mutual love of music and movies and our similar dry sense of humour.
We spent a few days together getting to know each other and then arranged to meet again in the UK the following week, as Adriano was travelling to Liverpool to visit the birthplace of his favourite band the Beatles. We both couldn’t believe how much of a deep connection we had formed after so many years of searching for someone who made us feel seen and secure. Following this visit, we spent the next year and a half travelling back and forth between Manchester and Porto to visit each other, which was at times challenging but we made it work.
Through all our ups and downs over the years with both personal and family crisis’s and mental health challenges, we’ve been each other’s rock.
We’ve been talking about marriage and making plans for a future together here in the UK but because of these new rules that have been dropped by the government in December, It’s forced us to have to cancel our dream future and now we have to speed up our plans in order to stay together.
We have realised that after the new law come into place in April 2024, there is no way we will be able to meet the minimum income requirement in order to get a spouse Visa to live together in the UK and feel like we are being punished for falling in love.
We were originally saving for a Visa and a wedding in our own time, planning for summer 2025, but since this new legislation changed rapidly and thoughtlessly, we’ve had to speed up our plans. So now we have about six weeks to get married, get legal representation, pass tests and file an application before the deadline.
We have so many dreams and plans for our future living together and starting our own business in the UK, and all of this has been put on hold as we don’t know where we will end up. We are devastated by this new law, and are desperately searching to find ways to stay together. "
As a community, we have the power to make a significant impact on Paula and Adriano’s journey. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly towards covering legal expenses and applications and ensuring that they can continue building a life together in the UK without fear of being separated.
