Help pave a healthy path for Phoudonthan Elementary School.

Team Laos is returning to Muang Sing, Luang Namtha, Laos in December 2025! In 2024, volunteers, along with Operation Jenda and generous donors, helped build new classrooms and bathrooms at Phoudonthan Elementary School, which was in urgent need of repairs. Our ongoing mission is to foster a supportive learning environment that inspires students to strive for a better future. Team Laos is committed to Phoudonthan Elementary School.

We are seeking your support to help raise funds to lay concrete on the front school yard and walkway. Our goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, and concreting the yard is a key part of this effort.

Currently, the yard becomes very muddy, especially during the rainy season, causing children’s shoes to be covered in mud and tracking dirt and dust into the classrooms. Some students wear flip-flops, leaving their feet covered in mud. Additionally, the classrooms have only a few windows for ventilation, and our volunteers have experienced firsthand the impact of a dusty environment on their health.

Concreting the yard will help alleviate this problem. By minimizing dust inhalation, we can protect the health and well-being of the students and staff. We also intend to add a play structure to enrich their educational journey.

Muang Sing is home to many of our communities (Mien, Akha, Hmong, Laos, and several other indigenous communities).

The area's rural nature means many families' income is below the poverty level. As a result, they can't afford the students' basic necessities. Also, economic opportunities are limited, leading most households to rely on agriculture and farming for survival.

With your support, we can create a safer and healthier courtyard and walkway for both students and staff. The school also serves as a vital space for community gatherings and celebrations.
