Help Pay Daffy’s Medical Bills

Hi! I'm Lauren, a close friend of Emily, Andrew, Daffy, Puck, and Gremmy. If you know Emily and Andrew or have followed them on social media, you know how much they love cats. All cats - especially the tough ones in difficult situations. I have seen them dedicate themselves for years to fostering, capturing, and finding homes for cats that need good families.

On Friday, September 9th, Daffy was given flea medicine that triggered seizures that landed her in the ER for nearly a week. The seizures were difficult to control, and she developed pneumonia in the midst of it all. By the 15th, it looked like Daffy wasn't going to make it, and plans were being made to bring her home to say goodbye. I flew down to offer support because Emily had always made it clear that she would need it if something happened to Daffy. Shockingly, Daffy decided to cash in all 9 lives a day after I arrived in LA. She is currently stable, but fragile. Since bringing Daffy home, it's evident how much time and effort it will take to nurse her back to health. But, the good news is that she is making progress, and we are hopeful that she can have a good quality of life again.

Emily and Andrew have had pet insurance for 5 years but are having difficulty proving that her seizures were not a pre-existing condition. Therefore, they have been left with enormous medical bills, ongoing care, and medication refills. In addition to fighting for coverage from their pet insurance company, they will seek compensation for the hospital stay from the flea medication maker. All of this will take months to settle with unknown results. In the meantime, they are left with outstanding bills that must be paid in full.

We are seeking aid from the community to help them shoulder this weight. In the event that they receive reimbursement, Emily and Andrew will donate all additional funds collected to LUXE Paws , an organization that concentrates on trap, neuter, and release. Daffy and Puck were adopted through LUXE Paws, and Emily and Andrew have continued a close relationship with them through the years.
