Help pay for my husband's urgent Cancer surgery

Hello to Everyone,

My name is Jane, and I am fundraising so I can pay for urgent surgery for my dear husband Charles. As some may know, he has been dealing with advanced prostate cancer for the past 22 years, and thru many difficult treatments he has kept it ‘under control’ and weathered the storm of side effects, always with good grace and dignity. A hero in my books.

However, about 6 months ago he was diagnosed with bladder cancer – a second Cancer! Unfortunately, bladder cancer is a hard one to treat, and he hasn’t responded well to treatments. He now has the chance of surgery to remove the bladder (and the cancer). It is a long and arduous surgery with a challenging recovery time, but Charles doesn’t shy away from the hard yards. Both he and his doctors agree this is the best shot he has to stop this cancer from spreading out from the bladder.

The surgery has come about suddenly – and even with private health cover, Charles and I are really struggling to find the money to cover medical costs. We are a couple of old-age pensioners, and we need to pay a total of $13,850 in costs - $11,000 for surgery and anaesthetist is $2850 (* this is out of pocket -after the rebates from his Private Health Cover and Medical Benefits Scheme). Over the previous 22 years we have managed to keep our heads above water with cancer treatments - chemotherapy, radiation, tests, scans, meds, you name it - but it has taken its toll, and we are pretty much flat broke these days and budget our daily needs on a pension.

I am reaching out and humbly asking for financial help to pay for his surgery. To raise the funds needed will be a HUGE worry taken off our shoulders. It’s really hard to ask for money, I am embarrassed to do so, but I hope and pray I can give Charles some relief by my fundraising the money needed.

He is a wonderful husband and father of 6, has dealt calmly with so many health problems over the past 2 decades, but this latest cancer battle is the biggest of them all.
