Help pay for Spotty's veterinary bills

Hi, my name is Heather, and I'm raising funds to help pay for the veterinary bills for my sick kitty, Spotticus.

We've had Spotty since my son picked him out as a kitten ("because he has blue eyes like our family"), and he's the sweetest cat, funny and cuddly. He used to roll on his back (like in the cover photo) to beg for tummy pets, and he'd pull your hand to his head with his paw to show you where to scritch, and lick your fingers in thanks. I love this cat so much. He's only 10 years old.

Spotty suddenly started losing weight recently, becoming lethargic and not eating much. After two already-expensive vet visits (around $1300, including three medications), it's clear that something is very wrong with him, but because it's unclear exactly what's going on, it's hard to treat him properly. Unfortunately, the next diagnostic step is to get a bicavity ultrasound, which will run us close to $1500. That's just to find out what's wrong; any additional treatments will be more, possibly much much more.

I was laid off in January, and have been looking for work since then. I've been putting these charges on a credit card for now, but I am afraid to go ahead with the ultrasound when my own financial situation is so precarious. But I am not ready to give up on this cat! He's still purring in my lap, and goes out to sit in his favorite sunny spots every day. That's why I'm hoping to raise money to help us afford to find out what's wrong with my sweet kitty.

My goal of $3000 will pay for the vet bills we've already incurred, and also the diagnostic ultrasound. Anything over that goal amount will go towards his treatments (if he needs an overnight visit it will be $2500... vet bills are so steep these days!).
