Hi everyone, I am reaching out this way in order to raise money to help Payton get the necessary treatments in order to continue to improve.
- Hyperbaric therapy chamber (for at home)
- out of pocket for dentistry
- out of pocket eye treatment located in Chicago, Illinois. (They’re using technology that no one else has or is willing to use)

- out of pocket medical bills
- unexpected expense for prescriptions
Payton’s Backstory
Payton developed a anoxic brain injury on June 3, 2021 due to a drug overdose. He stayed in the ICU unit from June 3 - June 22, which is the day he left and went to a long term care facility. He stayed at select from June 22 - August 5. They were able to get the trach removed by early July. He left there and went to a skilled nursing facility and stayed there from August 5 - August 14. He transferred from the first nursing home to the second on August 14, and was there until November 11. With the nursing homes combined, Payton developed severe contractures due to not having physical, occupational, or range of motions. Also was not getting out of the bed to sit in a chair though he was fully capable. At Franklin he was malnutritioned, developed severe contractions, and developed a stage 4 pressure wound. From November 11, 2021 - March 24, 2022, Payton was hospitalized receiving care for the wound, and dealt with pneumonia and aspiration over the course of the stay. He has to be have a tracheal tube placed again on January 17, 2022 due to pneumonia and fluid in the lungs. He went 5 months without a trach. Over the course of a year, Payton has shown significant improvement, despite the everything he was put through. He blinks 1 time for no and 2 times for yes, he can say a few words, he can swallow, has a gag reflex, feels pain, hearing sensitivity, appears to not be able to see partially or fully, will pay attention to what is being asked, and so much more. Today, Payton receives physical and occupational therapy, wound care therapy, infectious and control disease (wound related), is going to be starting hyperbaric therapy, received his first dose of botox for his contractures and spasticity, and much more doctor related appointments. Thank you for taking the time to read Payton’s story. ❤️
