UPDATE WHAT???? 3!!!!!!❤️
First, I wanted to start off and say thank you so much to everybody who has helped with the kind words. This has sure been a journey from hell. Well update number three is I ended up back in the hospital in the ER on August 19 side of my face was beginning to be swollen and the ear was very very hot to the touch. I had emergency surgery on 20 August to have the metal plate removed and therefore my doctor noticed that all the new tissue that she had put in was liquefied from whatever infection that I had going on. She then biopsied the parts of infection that were attached to the metal plate and sent it out. It’s crazy when a day later after surgery CDC is in my room telling me I have a very bad infectious disease. Pseudomonas aeruginosa.. that is the name that was raging and infection through my brain. I spent another 10 days in the hospital and was double fisting antibiotics in both arms. Fun times now I’m home. Been home for about four days. I am attached to a pick line now in my arm until October and I have to have IV injections of antibiotics three times a day until then with all this happening it put on hold the last surgery. I need to now wait to find out if I’m able to even get last surgery which would be a shunt put into my head to help with the CSF leaks that I still continue to have. With all this going on just the other day two days ago exactly was back in the ER in UMass sick as a dog running a fever just to find out. I got Covid so with everything else going on I gotta deal with this now. But I have a great team who’s been around me and telling me I’m going to be OK. Please continue the kind words and please reach out. THANK YOU EVERYONE ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
UPDATE! ❤️
I wanted to give everyone an update on my recovery, I’ve been home for 10 days now and going strong! It’s been a rough couple of weeks. The first surgery (was the removal of the endolymphatic sac tumor) went great up until the fourth day when I started to leak cerebrospinal fluid (brain juices I like to call it.)
I had to have an emergency lumbar drain put into my back and needed to be drained every hour on the dot. Three days later, I was placed back in surgery for whats called a “Mastoid Obliteration” which was on 7/17. I sadly lost 100% of my hearing on the right side. Due to the leakage, this was the only way to secure it. I was in ICU for roughly 9 days and in a regular room for 2. I was finally discharged on 7/20.
I am healing and relearning life as this changed a lot of things for me, patience and kindness is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your compassion and support through this difficult time our family has been going through. ❤️
Six months ago Pearl got diagnosed with a endolymphatic sac tumor. This is a very rare tumor, there has only been 200 cases reported. This tumor is located on her right side of her head by the ear. She has been out of work since May 16th and not sure when her return to work date will be. She will be having a form of brain surgery to remove this on Monday July 10th.
