Help Pete & Viv battle advanced esophogeal cancer
Donation protected
In mid September, Pete headed to the emergency room due to extreme pain in his back following several weeks of being sick with a nagging cough. Thinking that the pain might be caused by pneumonia, doctors ran a series of tests and scans. Imaging soon revealed that Pete has advanced stage esophageal cancer which has spread to his liver and lymph nodes. Those words still feel foreign to type for a young, healthy, strong guy like Pete. Caring for Pete’s pain and symptoms has been a full time job for Viviana who has been by his side 24 hours a day. We couldn't do this without her love, support, and sacrifice.
Pete will be starting his 3rd round of chemotherapy this week with the hopes that it will slow and even stop the growth of the cancer and address pain. He is hopeful and his spirits are high as he is surrounded by a community that prays and hopes in a God who can heal. We are praying for miracles. The Morrow and Ara families all live within 15 minutes of each other, so we are able to spend lots of time with Pete and help with his care and navigating the medical system. Pete and Viviana are living with family to help with care, to enjoy as much family time as possible, and to save money.
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help. Here is what we would ask:
1. Pray with us for miraculous, unexplainable healing
2. Hope with us but know that the weight of the diagnosis, treatment and exhaustion means you may not hear back from Pete and Viv in a timely manner if you reach out.
3. Consider joining us in helping support them financially. Medical bills, cost of medication, insurance benefits, and living expenses can become a heavy weight. All donations will go to Pete and Viv.
One beautiful thing that cancer has done… it has affirmed and highlighted Pete and Viv’s love and commitment for one another. They will be getting married soon. We have watched their love firsthand and see the beauty of their commitment, even as they face the worst. We would love to shower them with our support to help them in this next chapter so that they are focused on what matters; each other, the people around them, and Pete’s health.
