Help Pete fight Pancreatic Cancer

***** BIG NEWS *****
Well it’s all moving ahead folks… my liver lesion has been eliminated and my US surgeon has viewed images and results and has advised he is now happy to proceed with my major surgery.
We received an email stating they may have a surgery date as early as 15th December, otherwise will be shortly after this.
We are required to be in the USA for a minimum total of 5 weeks, arriving one week prior, then 2 weeks in hospital post surgery, then a further 2 weeks in Rochester before being cleared to fly home.
*Surgery is estimated at $231,121.18 AUD
*Pre-op procedures ( MRI etc ) at $5,600 AUD
With funds accessed from our super, savings and help from close family, so far we are able to cover approximately $190,000 of this..
We have had some great fundraising support on top of this that will support towards flights and accommodation ( return flights for two estimated at $10,500AUD & accommodation approximately $3,500AUD).
As we stand today we are currently approx. $54,000 short of the overall figure needed to cover the 5 week trip including my medical bills.
We are so very grateful for the kindness and support so far and ask that you continue to donate if and where possible to help us reach the goal needed to cover our expenses, therefore allowing me to receive life saving surgery.
I’ve been a little crook this past week or so with a blocked liver and have been in/out hospital all week. I have a procedure planned for Tuesday, prior to getting another stent inserted in my bile duct. Please understand if I’m a little slow on replying to messages currently.

18/09/2923 - We are back in Perth Western Australia for the time being to deal with a lesion found on Pete’s liver whilst we were in the States. He just finished his 3rd treatment of Cyberknife today. All going well and if all stays stable for the next 4 months, we will fly back to the USA for the big surgery!!
Much love Sam and Pete. ❤️❤️
* UPDATE - Ok so we have been in the United States for approximately 3 and a half weeks now for medical treatment of Pete’s Pancreatic Cancer. So far all of Pete’s pre surgery results have come back all very positive. This is what we have covered and paid for so far including medical treatment, airfares and accommodation.
Flights - $10,200
Accomodation - $1092.00
Initial assessment - $982.15
PET CT skull to thigh - $13,524.96

We have received an estimate for the ‘BIG’ surgery, Whipple with portal vein reconstruction to the tune of $215,000.00.
Hence we have increased our goal. We are so thankful that we are in the best place for Pete. We just have to keep going and take one day at a time. Much love from Sam and Pete ❤️❤️xx
My name is Samantha, a Perth nurse, wife to my darling husband Pete ‘Perky Pete’, and mother/stepmother to 4 beautiful teenagers. 14 months ago my husband of only 50yrs of age was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, adenocarcinoma in the head of the pancreas. Initially we were told because of the close proximity to a major artery that we would need chemotherapy over a period of 3 months to shrink the tumour, then a whipple procedure followed by more chemotherapy which would potentially cure him. After 3 months of chemotherapy the tumour had shrunk by 50%, but they had detected some stranding in other areas of the pancreas. More chemotherapy and radiation was needed…Needless to say after 12months of active treatment and participation in a clinical trial, we are still not where we need to be.We have researched endlessly within Australia for a surgeon that could potentially perform a resection of Pete’s pancreas to no avail.. We started to research overseas for potential surgeons that could help us, and we came across a major Cancer clinic in the United States. After sending across all of Pete’s scans and reports, we have been offered an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. We were excited by the prospect of another surgical opinion, but have since advised us that they no longer do zoom or phone appointments but only face to face due to insurance purposes. This would mean we would have to fly to the USA to conduct a physical examination prior to commencing any surgical intervention. We have thought long and hard, and we are cautiously confident that this could be the cure we are after. We are reaching out to anyone who could help us on our way to the USA. We would be forever grateful. Much love from Sam and Pete ❤️.
