Help Pete Frizzell Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
My brother Pete has weathered the storms life throws, literally and figuratively, persevering through life-altering circumstances that many would crumble under. He has an internal fortitude and ability to reimagine life’s possibilities when things seem darkest, all while maintaining an interest in and curiosity about the lives of everyone he meets. A musician, a craftsman, a historian, a creator, he has managed to overcome and succeed over and over again.
This time is different. This time, Hurricane Helene swept through his home of Cedar Key and took with her his entire life: guitars, amps, road cases destroyed; tools carried away by the surge; his home unlivable; and most devastating, the havoc and damage wreaked by the storm and aftermath conditions on decades of research he has been carefully curating and preserving since bringing home the men of Hadley’s Harem : official records, personal diaries, archival footage, photos informing his forthcoming book/film project honoring the service of those men, and so many like them, who often go unrecognized for their ultimate sacrifice.
Despite these losses, Pete is working to rise up again. That is impossible with the loss of the tools of his trade - his guitars, his actual tools, and a safe, stable location to preserve, catalog, and continue the Harem project.
How can you help? We’d like to raise as much as possible to restore Pete’s ability to continue to bring meaning to the lives of others with his music, his craft, and his work as a historian - new guitars and equipment to continue to play, new tools to continue to use his skills to rebuild his own life and that of his community, a safe living and working space to see the Harem project to fruition. We’re setting an initial goal of $30,000 for music equipment and tool replacement, housing, and materials cataloging, repair, and archiving. With gratitude, we cannot do this without your help. Please donate whatever you can to help, and spread the word.
