Help Peter and Sandy Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
On January 8th, 2025, Peter, Sandy, and their kids lost everything they own to the Palisades fire. They were able to leave their house with their passports and the most important thing: their family. Everything else was burned to the ground. Everything. Their neighborhood, their schools, and their community have been destroyed or displaced. Their lives as they knew it will be changed forever.
They are working on finding a place to stay and are grateful for getting out of their neighborhood alive, but do not have basic necessities. These are people who would never ask anyone for anything, but we as family and friends want to do all we can to support them get through the very hard hours, days, months, and years it will take them to recreate the lives they once lived.
This fundraiser is meant to help them start their new lives. Please share this with anyone you think can help and please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE 1/11/2025
We are so grateful for all of the love and support. We know there are people out there that need and deserve more. The fact that so many people have reached out and helped is truly unbelievable. I believe this is the essence of the good in people. My brother Pete and his wife Sandy, and his kids are exactly that. They try to bring more good into the world. Horrible things have happened to them, but they feel blessed with the love that is given to them. Here is a message from my brother:
“We have moved into temporary apartment thanks to the profound generosity of wonderful friends. Long term housing and school are the next big challenges. Where, when, and how are all still big questions. But through it all we’ve never felt alone. The kindness and support shown to us has been beyond overwhelming. Time and again we’ve been leveled by a word, a note, a gesture, a pair of shoes, a pot of chili, a long far off hello and we’re thinking about you. This torrent of love has filled the spaces between sadness.”
At times the world may feel like an angry place, but in moments like these we it’s incredible how we have the capacity to come together, there is good in the world and we can continue to thrive. Maybe we just need to treat our Earth a little better.
