Rebuild Peter & Sue's Cottage, Destroyed by Arson!

Hello All,

My name is Louise Winship and I have launched this campaign for my dear 85-year-old cousins Sue and Peter Sisam. On the morning of June 25th in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, their beloved family cottage was burnt to the ground by an arsonist.

Luckily, Sue and Peter were not at the cottage at the time but the building and all contents were completely destroyed. On top of this already devastating tragedy, their insurance company, who they had paid into for almost 40 years, refused to renew their policy two weeks before the fire. There was a small issue with the cottage foundation and instead of giving them a chance to fix it, the insurance company completely abandoned them and refused to pay out a single cent.

Built in 1966, the wonderful yet modest cottage was the embodiment of Sue and Peter’s love for their family and one another. It was filled with all the irreplaceable antique treasures they had collected over their sixty-three years together. All of their family photos and treasured letters are gone! The cottage was their favourite place in the world and where they were going to spend the rest of their lives together.

Without the insurance money, Sue and Peter can’t afford to rebuild. Because the cost of just cleaning up is almost $30,000, the burn pile remains exactly as it was the morning after the fire.

We are heartbroken for Sue and Peter. They have always been wonderful and generous family members, friends and neighbours. Throughout their lives, they have always been there to help others in need, and we hope you will now join us in helping them.

Please donate to help clean up the fire damage at Sue and Peter’s property and to build them a small cottage where they can continue their life together. Don’t allow an arsonist or an insurance company to deny them that.
