Help Peter Coates Inspire Cancer Survivors

My name is Peter Coates.
On January 8th, 2023 I was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma cancer and told I had six months to a year to live. It was a hard kick to the gut, a huge red stop sign planted directly in the path of my life. Suddenly, I had no future beyond six months, no plans, no hope, no imagination beyond that “deadline”. The good news is, I have received treatments that had extended my life for another year. So here I am in April of 2024. The unfortunate news is, the treatments are no longer effective and I, once again, am dealing with the “six months to a year” prognosis.
Today, I am better equipped to deal with the raw emotions that come with a terminal prognosis. A real “deadline” as I have come to regard it. Throughout the last year, through blogs and forums, I have met other cancer survivors who…are struggling to survive the impact of their new found reality. My heart goes out to them. I wish for them the opportunity to express themselves, through music, poetry, art, or whatever medium appropriate, in order to find and experience a place of respite and relief from the confusion and anxiety that accompanies that hard put news of finality. I have written and composed a few songs that relate to the experiences of this terminal condition. Hopefully, this music will provide an inspiration to others for an either simple and direct sense of understanding or, better yet, inspiration to create out of their own personal experience a work of art that will provide meaning, clarity, and peace of mind for that person and others.
I have uploaded my first composition, “Found Your Way”, a song inspired by the tremendous support I have received from my friends and family over the past year. The song, along with those who have inspired it, have been my saving grace. If you are interested, please help me establish a platform for those who suffer to find within themselves the creative power of healing and reconciliation.
You may do so as a simple gift, or in memory of a cancer patient deceased or still living. Help me to bring a ray of hope to those afflicted.
Thank you,
Peter Coates.
My Goal:
" Live For What You Would Die For"
My goal is to raise $10,000 to pay for production and recording costs for an extended play album of songs, and the establishment of a website relating to the terminal cancer prognosis and the emotional impacts on survivors associated with it. The website, Cancersong.org, will launch in June 2024 and will provide a platform for cancer survivors to upload their creative works. My music will be distributed to many of the major mediums such as Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and iTunes. Any royalties (future) will be used to help Go Fund Me accounts that further this mission.
