Help Peter Joy Recover from Dog Attack Injuries
Donation protected
Peter Joy was attacked by a dog that he was trying to help on August 22nd 2024. As many of your know, my husband is an immensely kind and compassionate human being. He has saved many dogs that have been dropped off by owners moving and leaving them here in the desert. The dog was outside in over 100 degree heat for over 5 hours. Even after the attack no one has been able to capture the dog not only for her safety, but for others. It's just cruel when no one cares.
WE CARE!
Pete's sustained serious injuries of a completely severed nose (across the bridge was cut in half). The only thing holding his nose onto his face are his nostrils. The bite tore into his skull between his eyebrows and also punctured his right tear duct.
His arm was slashed/bitten down to the bone.
His glasses and his arm are what protected him from being bitten in the neck or vital organs. He will need new glasses. There is a bite mark on them that makes it hard to see to drive (when he can) or see t.v. or anything far away. New glasses aren't covered by his insurance.
So we are asking for any help due to the medical bills (plastic surgery, new glasses, our emergency fund is depleted, loss of driving/lost wages, living expenses etc.)
He is home now healing but we have a long road of hoping, waiting to see if he recovers without infection because dog bites are very serious concerning bacteria as well as rabies. (he was cleared of any rabies). Also, if he needs any extra plastic surgery when his bandages are taken off, we won't know for weeks until he sees the surgeon for a check up (more expenses).
All of this on top of his recent heart attack...AND his BIRTHDAY is on August 26th.
So we are reaching out for help (which isn't easy to do) because the insurmountable expenses are overwhelming on top of the traumatic event.
So much love to all of you and thank you so very much,
Kim & Pete Joy
