Help Peter Spellos Flip the Bird to Cancer

Donation protected
Peter Spellos has garnered a wide-reaching family through decades of acting, teaching, comedy, and conventions. Many of us are familiar with his trademark flipping the bird to the camera (with one or two fingers, depending on which side of the Pond). Now it's our turn to support him.

In July of this year, Peter received an unexpected diagnosis of Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. A lot of amazing people immediately stepped up--both locally here in Indianapolis, and traveling in from out of town--to assist with the initial steps of getting him to appointments, running errands, and more. He has started a chemotherapy regimen, and is fighting this new nemesis like the Superman that we all know he is. But many more of you have asked how you can help, especially those of you who live farther away.

Financial support for Peter will be invaluable on several fronts:
  • We are working on getting Peter into assisted living, in order to give him consistent in-person support. The biggest factors here are meeting his medical needs, and safe mobility when he's up and walking around. Right now this is anticipated to be the most expensive part of his cancer fight.
  • Depending on where he goes and how much room he will have, we may need to put some of his belongings into storage.
  • Of course we want to make sure that any out-of-pocket medical expenses are covered, because you never know what insurance will do.
  • We also want to secure his other major bills (depending on assisted living options), particularly because teaching acting and improv classes was still part of his functioning income. And we generally want to be prepared for any incidental costs that might pop up for him.

Again, Peter is determined to fight, wherever this journey takes him. We want to give him every possible weapon to do so, as well as lessen any other concerns he might have in the meantime. He loves and appreciates every single one of you for the care that has poured over him from social media and personal communications. Let's help him flip cancer the bird!
