Help Phil Fight Congestive Heart Failure

Phil, Phillyboy, Philbert, Fabio or Flip whichever name you use to call him, you know him for always being happy, kind, and generous!! He is the guy who always steps forward to help out anyone in need. Phil is a caring friend, coworker, fiancé to Holly and father to his “princess” and light of his life Vanessa, his 4 year old daughter.

Back in December Phil caught a cold that he couldn’t kick. He was extremely exhausted and had a horrible cough that would take his breath away. He went to urgent care and the ER on different occasions and was told it was an upper respiratory infection and it had to run its course. The cough continued and recently it got to the point where he was having a hard time breathing when laying down. On July 3rd he was admitted to Hartford hospital cardiac unit and diagnosed with stage 3 congestive heart failure. His heart was only working at 10%. Phil was told he would be on permanent disability and with that, he would no longer be able to provide for his family.

Phil has prided himself on being the sole provider for his family. He has worked hard as an electrician for over 20 years. Now with his heart functioning at an EF of 10% he is not able to work and is on full time disability. Unfortunately his work does not offer short term disability and social security disability takes about 6 months or more to start.

We are hoping and praying that with the medication and diet changes, his heart will start repairing itself. After 3 months of medication treatments his heart is not improving he will be having surgery to get a pacemaker/defibrillator and will be placed on the heart transplant list. Right now Phil and his family really need to be able to focus on his health and time together. We are hoping to offer support to them by reducing their financial stress and allowing them to take the time he needs to heal.
