Help Maddie and Pierce during their stay at IWK

Hi there, my name is Melissa Harding and I’m raising funds on behalf of my sister and brother in law, Maddie and Pierce Smith. On August 23, 2020 they had to say goodbye to their first baby girl, Diana, who died at 21 weeks in their arms. This loss was devastating and they are still healing from it. They were so happy to find out that they are now expecting again, another baby girl, who is due on June 19. The pregnancy had been going well until February 18, when Maddie realized something was wrong. She was airlifted to the IWK with the same condition that caused the loss of their first baby. Maddie is currently 23 weeks pregnant and must stay on bedrest until the baby arrives. The doctors are hopeful that bedrest will keep labor from starting and the baby will continue growing for as long as possible. It could be days or weeks until the baby comes, but each day gives her a higher chance of survival. We are praying she can continue to grow so when the time does come, they can hold her in their arms and take her home.

 

Maddie and Pierce deserve the world, they are both wonderful people who care so much about others. They both work in healthcare, Maddie is a Medical Secretary at the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre and Pierce is an RN at the Prince County Hospital. Since neither of them are able to work for an unknown amount of time, anything you can give is helpful. My family and I want to reduce some of the monetary related stress so they can focus solely on rest and growing this little babe. We are also requesting prayers for this little family, for not only the health of Maddie & their baby, but for mental and emotional healing at this time. Thank you so much for reading.
