Help Pomeroy Pirates Rock On with Music

Hello out there, this is Cody Jones and Cory Burke creating a GoFundMe drive to help the music program at our local school, Pomeroy JR/SR High. We are just two guys doing something good and are not connected with our local school at all.

We are doing this in honor of Cory's dad, Doug Burke, who was a musician for most of his life. We were both lucky enough to have learned from him- as well as our former, great music teacher, Mr. Marcus Pederson . Now both of our kids are in school and we need your help in making it just a little better.

This is your chance to help cheer on the Pomeroy Pirates, to broaden the minds of our youth through music, and to selflessly spend a bit of your hard-earned money on something good.

We would like to come up with enough funds to purchase a new drum set for the Pomeroy JR/SR High School Pep and Rock Band. The school went five years without a band teacher and has luckily found a new, talented music teacher by the name of Mr. Joshua Murray, who is bringing the love of music back to our kids! Thank you, Joshua, for all of your hard work! This year Mr. Murray brought back the first band concert in a few years and began a rock band with our students. The rock band has played multiple events at school, and most recently they played live at the "Morp" high school dance!

This Pirate Orange drum set will be a great focal piece for the pep band at sporting and rock band events. A good drum set will last well over 30 years, giving a few of our next Pomeroy generations the chance to learn on and play it.

The pep band currently has a smaller drum set, and this will allow more kids access to playing by having two drum sets. While the current set is a fine set to learn on, the drum set we are hoping to donate is a higher-end kit that will have our kids learning on a more musical, larger drum set.

I urge all of you musicians and non-musicians out there to donate to this worthy cause.

100% of donations will go to the music program—firstly, paying for the drum set, cymbals, cases, and chair. Any funds given above our $2500 goal will purchase extra cymbals, drum heads, or new music for the pep band to use!
