Help Ponderosa Zoo during our closure
Donation protected
Ponderosa Zoo is home to over 120 animals from lemurs to reindeer. We are a dedicated team of hard working and passionate individuals who aim to promote animal welfare, in addition to educating the public on conservation efforts and the threats many species now face in the wild.
The centre was originally created in 1991 with the aim to 'bridge the gap' between disabled and able-bodied people through the care of animals as a form of therapy. Although we are now a much bigger facility, our zoo is always disabled friendly and offers a variety of grounds keeping roles for disabled individuals to gain valuable work experience in a friendly and welcoming environment. In 2017 we took another step in journey by becoming provisional BIAZA members.
Due to the recent announcement to make further closures throughout the country to help prevent the continued spread of coronavirus, we have decided to close the zoo until further notice.
We rely on ticket sales for all our income so donations would be hugely appreciated at this incredibly difficult time. All donations will be used to pay for the care of our animals whilst our doors are closed, including food, healthcare and animal enrichment.
