Help Poppy Fun Fashion! in MN return...

Donation protected
Dear friends of Poppy Fun Fashion! & small business supporters everywhere,

My name is Jill Henderson and I am the owner of Poppy Fun Fashion! which opened in 2009.  Poppy would not be here without 9 years of consistent support and LOVE from the Twin Cities community - and I am SO grateful.

Since March 17th Poppy been closed to the public. I believe it has helped to keep both our staff and customers safe to social distance and we are dedicated to doing what we can to help "flatten the curve" in Minnesota.

After two never-ending winters we have FINALLY had a much milder spring. March and April can be fabulous turn-around months after our lowest sales time in January and February. But, sadly, not this year. COVID-19 is putting Poppy's future in jeopardy.

I have applied for small business grants outlined in the stimulus package which could help with rent, utilities, and payroll. However, this will not cover all of the losses, and it is uncertain how much, if any funding will come and when or if it will arrive.  In the meantime we still have bills to pay.

We are all hoping that the post-pandemic "new normal" isn't too unrecognizable from the "old normal.”  After nine years Poppy certainly has become part of the NORMAL (and beautiful!) 55105 landscape.  The money raised in this campaign will help Poppy weather the storm and ensure that we remain part of the "new normal" landscape as well!

The Macalaster-Groveland neighborhood has stuck together when we:

*Crawled out of the last recession
*Endured terrible winters
*Waited and waited for summer through sloggy and snowy springs
*Watched the closing of the St. Clair Broiler three years ago (and the pain of it looking disheveled and vacant for far too long!)
*Managed to stay afloat and positive during the 18 months of construction across from the Poppy on Snelling
*Now face a mandatory two month closing due to COVID-19

I know some of you may have lost a loved one or a job or may be ill or facing unexpected medical bills due to the COVID-19 virus.  And I want you to know I am truly sorry for your loss or hardship!  Due to the pandemic there is NO END of people, causes, businesses in need.  I genuinely appreciate your time to consider my small business among them, especially when others have suffered MUCH larger losses.

It’s not part of my self-sufficient entrepreneurial pride to ask anything from our customers and community who already do so much in supporting Poppy! However, right now we are dealing with an unprecedented and unforeseen event. There is no playbook. There are no “hacks,” tips or answers. No academic degree, bit of luck or grit or even hard-won experience can help a small business owner surely survive this one.

I have set up a variety of donation levels. Every single amount, even $1, is  WHOLEHEARTEDLY appreciated by me!I appreciate your consideration and I sincerely appreciate your support!  A simple gift that creates the greatest benefit of all = passing my GoFundMe page on to anyone you may know, or posting it to your social media pages!  Sharing is both FREE to you and GREATLY appreciated!

With the exception of the “Buy me a coffee/beer” option,  all other suggested levels of donations are a way for our customers and the community to help get Poppy through these tough times and get something in return.
