The Power of You Teens (POYT) is an innovative 501(c)(3) non-profit Mentoring and Empowerment Organization serving girls, ages 11-18, in the Harlem, Detroit, and Atlanta communities. We bring a world of hope and opportunities to girls who need it most. Our mission is to inspire girls to be Confident, College Bound, and Career Ready! We recognize powerful girls grow up to be secure and confident women, setting the stage for their futures as leaders and agents of change. Research supporting this is why we call our young women, POWERGIRLS.

Since 2016, we have provided over 30 college scholarships for our PowerGirls! This year, we have four incredible PowerGirls who will attend college. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to provide our deserving PowerGirls college scholarships and to continue to provide dynamic educational programming for teen girls. POYT’s year-round programming and workshops are designed to combat the negative influences many young women face, especially young women of color.

With your help, we can continue to tear down barriers to success and create more ladders of opportunity for teen girls. Each PowerGirl Scholarship recipient will receive between $1,250-2,000 in scholarship funds. The resources may be used to pay for any education expense deemed necessary by the college, including books, a laptop, lab equipment, housing, tuition, fees, transportation, living expenses, and course materials. Any remaining funds will go towards expenses for our programs and workshops for our PowerGirls.

THE POWER OF YOU TEENS

At POYT, we are committed to providing the necessary tools, learning opportunities, and resources to inspire teens from potential to power. Through our tuition-free educational workshops and mentorship programs, we create a safe, fun, and inspirational environment that ignites the spark for girls to be Brave, Bold, and Brilliant. We believe every student deserves access to the resources and support they need to succeed, regardless of their background or financial situation. Our PowerGirl workshops address: college preparation, improving academic performance, self-esteem and confidence training, career preparation, communication and leadership skills for the 21st century, financial literacy, stress reduction, conflict resolution, life skills, mind, body, and spirit wellness.

We encourage character/leadership development, academic achievement, and prepare our PowerGirls to be Confident, College Bound, and Career Ready. Our organization helps change the trajectory of girls’ lives by encouraging character development, academic achievement, and community service. We're passionate about developing tomorrow's agents of change who understand their self-worth and how they can make a positive impact in their community and the world!
