Help Pregnant Mom with Stage 4 Breast Cancer

Heartbreak leads to perseverance. Tragedy leads to character. Generosity leads to healing.
And now — with heartbreak and tragedy bearing down on our family — we humbly ask for your generosity.
Meet our cousins, Raymond and Karen Vincent, proud parents of 6 beautiful children. On April 22, after a month of declining health and 26 weeks pregnant, Karen was admitted to the emergency room. What we thought was preeclampsia turned out to be something far more serious.
First, the happy news: Doctors performed an emergency C-section when Karen’s condition became unstable, and we are overjoyed to tell you that Alexander Constantine Vincent was born healthy, despite being three months premature. He’ll have to stay in the NICU a few more months, which presents its own challenges, but he’s healthy and growing and we’re so grateful.
However, after surgery, doctors performed CT scans to find the underlying cause of Karen’s condition and rapidly deteriorating health.
The scans revealed that Karen had Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that had spread to her bones, liver, and brain. We were absolutely devastated by this news.
When your world turns upside down, you don’t really know where to turn. As Christians, the Vincent family turns to God. We know He is watching over them, and we know He has a plan for their family. But that path can be difficult to navigate, especially in the darkest times.
What do you do when one of your brightest moments — the birth of your son — turns into your darkest fears? What do you do when God challenges you in a way you never conceived of?
Of course, you do whatever you can to meet the challenge. And that’s what they are doing.
Karen's next challenge was a brain bleed. After Doctors stabilized her, she was able to undergo her first round of chemotherapy last week. We’re praying for a miracle as we search for an effective form of treatment. We fully believe she will fight through this. She’s seen Alexander a few times. And, though the brain tumors have effected her vision, she promises she can see him clearly every time she holds him.
This sweet family of 8 is confronting the most difficult period in their lives.
So we are asking for any donations you may be able to spare. All funds will go directly to Karen and Alexander’s medical bills and to support the family while Raymond, who is self-employed, is out of work.
They are up against impossible odds. But we know that with your help, they will get through this with grace and dignity.
With all our gratitude,
The Vincent Family
