Help Preserve Berkeley Community Physical Therapy

Dear Berkeley Community Physical Therapy Patients, Family, Community Allies and Friends:

While the last few years have been challenging, they’ve also been transformational and inspirational for Berkeley Community Physical Therapy (BCPT) — because of you.

Triumphs and Ongoing Challenges

We emerged from the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic owing our former landlord and attorneys a substantial sum. However, with your generous support of our original GoFundMe campaign and a Small Business Administration loan, we met this challenge, which has allowed us to continue to serve our beloved Berkeley community.

Still, as the economy reopened, COVID-19 continued to affect people, including our staff, hampering our anticipated “comeback.” In December, several staffers couldn’t work for two weeks and we lost $20,000 dollars. Compounding matters, one of our clinicians got stranded in Texas because of Southwest Airlines’ nationwide grounding. As if clinics like ours could magically bounce back from COVID 19-related setbacks, the state and federal governments dropped support for small businesses — many clinics like ours closed.

We are also struggling to be compensated by insurance companies — get this, for services that we’ve already rendered over the past two years! It’s clear that for-profit insurers are denying patients and practitioners critical reimbursement to feed dividends to their shareholders — posting billions of dollars in profits off the backs of small clinics like ours.

Our Circular Faith

We at BCPT believe that change begins with us. While we’re a business, we’re a different kind of business because of our circular faith. We trust that, if we put our patients and our community before profits, those who can will step up to help us fill the gap so that we can continue to serve them.

We humbly ask our patients and community allies to join us in creating a healthier, stronger and happier community — for everyone, and particularly for those who’ve been historically neglected.

Please consider making a donation to our GoFundMe campaign and/or participating in our auction. The latter offers the following:

  • Persian dinner for two prepared and hosted by Negeene — $400.
  • Yoga class with Negeene and friends — $120 per mat.
  • Revolutionary movie night @ BCPT — $50 per seat.
  • Bach cello suite performed in your home by the renowned local cellist, Tanya Tomkins — $1000 (one performance).

Please support us at any level that you can. If you choose to bid on any of our auction items, please let us know on the GoFundMe site which item/s and for how much and we’ll update the page to reflect the highest bids.

Whether you’re a new or an ongoing supporter, thank you for helping to make our dream for a better community and world in our time a reality!

Sincerely,

Negeene Mosaed and BCPT Staff
