Help Preserve the Nora Store
Donation protected
I am a friend of the Nora Store. The Nora Store in rural South Dakota operated as a community store from 1907 to 1962. Mike Pedersen purchased the building in a desire to preserve this as a part of rural America. In 1989, the donation of a pipe organ was received, and Mike setup the organ in the store. During each Christmas season for 31 years, Mike has opened up the store for "Christmas at Nora," inviting the public to come and enjoy singing Christmas Carols together. 2020 was closed to the public, but some private groups were able to come to the Nora Store.
The building is nearly 115 years old, and needs many repairs. The donations received have not been sufficient to cover all the necessary repairs, so we would like to encourage everyone who has enjoyed Christmas at Nora to consider making a donation to enable the necessary maintenance.
Specific repair needs are shown in the video, and include these vital items:
- Front Porch Beam replacement: $5,000
- Siding replacement: $7,500.
- Electrical system upgrades: $6,000.
- Painting and recoating the flat roof area: $5,000.
- Well: $13,000.
- Assist with Mike's medical expenses: $3,500
Thank you for considering contributing to help preserve the Nora Store, in Nora, South Dakota, and for supporting Christmas at Nora!
