Help Preserve the Papercut Zine Collection

The Papercut Zine Library is a 16,000+-volume collection of zines that has been hosted in the Boston-area community since at least 2005. Zines in this Library center marginalized voices and topics range from politics, comics, multimedia, DIY guides, queer & gender politics, feminism, race, class, foreign language zines, bikes, travel, health/sex, parenting/education, environment/animals, religion/spirituality, art/film, fiction/poetry, and music. The PZL is community-curated and independent. So it needs your help!

The July 2024 closing of the Democracy Center threatened to leave the PZL homeless. The PZL has found a safe harbor. We are so grateful that we can host this venerable and beloved (and pretty massive) zine collection in our home! The collection was safely delivered to our space, but to properly secure it for the future, we have some crucial expenses. The PZL collective at present does not have the funds to cover this and so I made this gofundme hoping that my zine loving friends and their zine loving friends will make some donations to cover it. If you don't have the funds, help us out by sharing this gofundme!

Your donations will go to supplies to stabilize and store the Library (and to reimburse us for what we have already spent). The PZL needs funds for proper shelving, rolling dense shelving, waterproof bins, new zine sleeves, climate control, and so forth.

We aren't fully sure of the cost because we haven't been able to assess the condition of everything yet. We have already spent our own money on some shelves, but we need zine lovers to help us out.

All the donations will go to the Papercut Zine Library in the form of the items we need to safely stabilize it. If we have excess it will go towards future expenses for the collection.
