Help protect Democracy in Kamloops, BC Canada

My name is Kathrine Wunderlichh
Democracy is a promise to every resident that municipal leaders must uphold. It’s a commitment to hearing all voices and making decisions transparently and fairly for all.
Recent actions by our city leaders, however, do not reflect this. With the city pushing the $275M PAC and multiplex projects forward using the alternative approval process (AAP); many in our community feel disenfranchised and unheard of.
Due to the scale of these projects and the PAC's historically contentious issue, city leaders should have chosen a referendum, as the AAP guidelines recommend.
When our city sidelines community input and fails to represent the broader public interest, the foundation of our democracy is at risk. For these reasons, and with no other option, we have taken the issue to the BC Supreme Court. A copy of the petition can be found on the KCU Facebook page or can be sent via email upon request.
KCU is working diligently to ensure that Kamloops is a place where every resident has a voice in shaping our future, but we can’t do this alone. We need community support to hold our leaders accountable and advocate for fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Your donation will help offset the costs associated with legal fees and ongoing public awareness campaigns (social media, newsletters, and flyers), community workshops, and helping residents learn of their rights and understand city policies on local municipal issues.
Thank you for standing with us.
