Help Provide Crucial Items Needed in Asheville

I live just south of Asheville and hope to make a difference with our current situation. I have been volunteering daily since the beginning of October at a local church and donation site.

The availability of items changes daily as to what folks need and what is available. I intend to use funds raised to personally go out and buy what is needed in real time and get them out to those in need as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your time, help, and consideration. Every little bit helps...from being able to buy much needed batteries and flashlights to maybe even a generator or two. Together we can make a difference!

If you would like to read and know more:
For those who are interested and want to insure I am a real person with solid credentials. I have been self-employed as a silversmith designing jewelry for 25 years.
I am also a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. The biggest art show of the year for us actually would have been next weekend downtown Asheville, Oct. 17-20, 2024. This is normally crunch time for me creating jewelry sun up til sundown for that show. Instead I am sorting groceries and organizing essential items at the church/mission. We do what needs to be done in times of trouble and I'm just trying to do my part.

Every day there is a constant line of cars at the mission waiting to get donated items. Volunteers are assembling family care boxes with food and basic items like wipes, gloves, paper plates, paper towels, blankets, etc. But it changes daily on what specialty items that are needed and available to give. One day we'll have a whole box of flashlights/batteries/tarps, the next day they are gone...yet we still have folks in need of them. I plan to go to the store and buy those specific items we need on my way to the mission the next day with these funds. We have plenty of canned goods, food, clothes, toothbrushes, etc as those are delivered/donated daily arriving by truck day and night. It's those random specialty items in which we are in need as well. And unless you're there daily, you might not know what those items are. So I'm just trying to keep track of those items and buy them when I can. That's where this money comes into play.

For Example...there's a group of folks just north of Asheville in which we recently learned and they are in much need of camping gear. (Many families are camping on their land because they are dispersed from their homes for one reason or another.) This particular group still does not have power or cell service. We recently supplied them with 20-30 blankets and sleeping bags, 7-8 tents, 5-6 camp chairs, 30 towels, etc. But they still need more. We don't have any more tents at the shelter (at least as of last night at 8pm.) So if I had the money, I would go try to find tents, etc. on my way to the mission today and buy what I can. That's kind of how I'm thinking this will hopefully work. Also my friend and neighbor, Laura, has a truck and is able to drive items to surrounding areas in need. We are all simply working together to try to make a difference...and You Can Help!
