Help Provide for Mindy and Her Daughter's Future
The world my sister Mindy had built with her husband and daughter was shattered on the evening of August 18th. When her husband David failed to return home from a meeting at the church where he served as music director, she set out to retrace his route. The chaotic lights of emergency vehicles became visible as she approached a familiar intersection. The unimaginable was confirmed when she spotted David's "Piano Man" license plate on the front of his car, which had been rendered otherwise unrecognizable by an intense fire resulting from a crash. This was the way Mindy had to learn that her daughter had lost the father she grew up calling "Gah Gah." This was the way she had to learn that her husband of 22 years had been killed by a driver who chose to drive while under the influence. David's death was avoidable and senseless.
David was known throughout his community as a talented musician who was active in his church. Less visible to the community was David's constant and sustaining support of Mindy as she underwent treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) over the summer. Unfortunately, David lacked any substantial life insurance. Mindy faces continuing medical expenses for treatment of CML and other chronic illnesses, and her daughter will be approaching college in a few years. Donations would help Mindy and her daughter focus on their health and their future without the added stress of worrying about their finances. Mindy, her daughter, and the families are so grateful for the love and support of their community at this time.
