Help Provide Relief for Hurricane Helene Victims of WNC

My heart is breaking right now for my community. Hurricane Helene hit on 9/27/24 and Western North Carolina is devastated. We have no clue how many lives have been lost, or how many are homeless, but entire towns have been destroyed! We have no phone service (cell towers were destroyed), no internet, or power. Some areas it could be more than a month before power is restored.

Most of the roads in and out of here have been destroyed due to mudslides and bridges being washed out. Countless people are still trapped in these backwoods areas.

I am volunteering with Newdale Fire Department because FEMA and Red Cross are helping Buncombe county but so far there is no help for Yancey and Mitchell county. The money I am raising is directly going to buy supplies for my these two counties (Yancey is my home, and Mitchell is the home of my farm). I am sending the funds raised to others to purchase the supplies and they are being flown in via helicopter and delivered by truck.

We eventually will need volunteers on the ground to rebuild but at this time there is no infrastructure to support volunteers. Last I heard, they aren’t even allowing non residents into the state. Money, supplies, and prayer are what is needed at this time. Please spread the word!
