Help Queer Grad Student Fund Top Surgery

Hey, y'all! My name is Shy, and I'm a Black genderfluid poet living in Texas. While I'm excited to say that I was recently given a late 2023 procedure date, I have a lot of anxiety about being able to pay for the surgery and tend to my healing afterward. I'm entering the last year of my MFA and live on a very fixed income. As a result, I have yet to be able to save for this long-awaited day.

UPDATE: I was recently notified that my insurance approved my surgery, so the need for funds has changed. My provider let me know that they'll cover 80% of the procedure (approx. $7200), and I'll be responsible for the remaining 20% ($1800) + the $350 deductible—making the estimated out-of-pocket cost around $2200. I'm incredibly grateful to have an insurance provider covering this surgery and even more thankful for the donations I've received that have brought me to 50% of my goal. As the date for my surgery quickly approaches, I would like to secure the funds as soon as possible to avoid a payment plan for the remaining balance

FINAL UPDATE: Thank you to all my friends, family, colleagues, and strangers who have supported me. I had a successful surgery on December 5th and have yet to find language that adequately expresses my gratitude.
