Help Quita and Langley reunite with daughters
Donation protected
Hi, our names are Linda Erickson and Lynell Gordon who are organizing this fundraiser.
Quita and Langley Kialain are members of our church who are trying desperately to earn the money to bring their daughters from Liberia to the United States. They both are working multiple jobs but are physically struggling from the strain and we worry about their health. All of the money donated will go to fees for legally bringing their daughters to the United States. Here is their story as told by Quita:
I am Quita Kialain a forty-seven years old woman from Liberia. My husband and I had three biological children, two beautiful girls, and a boy. Unfortunately for us, our civil war that lasted for fourteen years, during those years, all of our three children died. My husband and I tried over the years to have additional children; we went from one doctor to another, but we were not fortunate to get any more kids. So, I decided to pray and asked Heavenly Father to bless me with my own children, but it did not seem to be.
My husband had a cousin who had a young 13-year-old girl who was raped by an unknown man in the village. We decided with the rest of the family, that when she give birth, we would like to take the child and raise her as our own. As soon as she gave birth, the baby was a day old when we took her home. We named her Blessing, because since she came into our family, we had been blessed. Her full name is Kau Blessing Kialain.
Leela Jan Kialain, is our second adopted daughter; Leela’s mother was my first cousin. During the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, my cousin Nowah, went to give birth, and she had Ebola. She died in childbirth, leaving Leela behind as a baby. I took Leela, and breastfed her until I got milk in my breast since she couldn’t drink from a bottle. Leela was born February 6, 2014. She too, was legally adopted by us. Her name Leela means my heart is satisfied.
In 2015, I played the Lottery Diversity green card Visa, and won so that my husband and I could come to the United States for a better life. We had to leave our two little girls behind with my mother because of financial constraints; they could not come with us. We have been here six years now, working hard, to do everything possible to bring them over and have become a citizen of the United States. Last summer, unfortunately my mother died on August 14th. My little sister, who is raising three boys all alone is also taking care of our daughters. I have to pay her every month and also help her with her three boys. I also hired another lady to do the evening shift for the girls, because my sister had to go home to her kids at night. I recently learned that my sister’s 14-year-old son, tried to rape my ten-year-old daughter and burnt her with an electrical iron on her face and shoulder. I feel helpless but pray that our daughter can be safe with us.
I have contacted some immigration lawyers, and they can help but their fees cost approximately $10,000. That includes their filing fees, and immigration fees, plus visa, and plane tickets. I work seven days a week, over 100 hours a week, just to save money, but the responsibility is so many. I have to pay my rent here and my bills, and send money back home for their upkeep. We also pay their rent there, school fees for them, their food, and medical expenses that include medicine to fight malaria. It had been so hectic for me, till I ended up in the emergency room on the 6th of November from fatigue.
But with all of my circumstances, I am still trying to work to keep their spirits up, and myself. Therefore, I am kindly asking if anyone out there can help me with my children’s process of coming over. Your contribution in any way will be highly appreciated.
